Our last days of the trip we spent in the amazing city of Los Angeles, the city of BIG dreams!
This summer we drove three weeks with a brand new Jeep Cherokee through California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona. More than 4.000km and almost 70 hours in the car, alternating with the most beautiful natural parks and cities. From campsites to luxury hotels, Airbnb and motels, we have tried everything .. This definitely is our thing!
Because we have sooo many pictures, have seen so much and want to give the best tips we share our road trip in three blogs. This is part 3, in this blog we tell you all about Los Angeles.
Being our last days of the trip we decided to do everything quietly. No must-sees for us this time but enjoying some cycling, hiking, and more. This is the perfect city to end our beautiful holiday because the weather is always good and in addition to other cities there is plenty to do. We stayed in an Airbnb and had fine cruiser bikes at our disposal.
Venice Beach
★★★★ ☆
Almost immediately after arriving in Venice Beach, Pat, our Airbnb host, showed us some great spots on a map of LA and especially Venice Beach and Santa Monica. We started unloading suitcases and hopped on the bikes. Time to explore Venice beach.
Abbot Kinney
★★★★★
Of course Rowena made us go straight to Abbott Kinney. The shopping street of Venice Beach and probably one of the trendiest and liveliest streets of L.A. Abbot Kinney is the epicenter of the typical laid back California beach atmosphere and is slightly more upscale than Venice Beach a few blocks further. With bars, shops and restaurants there is plenty to do.
Kreation
★★★★★
Ralph had seen a video, from a known vlogger (Ben Brown), about a great restaurant down the street Abbot Kinney. One that fits us: Organic & healthy food in the restaurant Kreation. The food was delicious! And completely vegetarian. Quinoa with spinach, potatoes and tomato and for dessert a cheesecake and vegan brownie. You can also find everything from Cold Press Juices, smoothies and Amaze Bowls.
Of course we also went to see some other parts of the city by car. We drove the Mull Holland Drive through the hills of Los Angeles. There are different viewpoints and of course a nice view on the Hollywood sign. Oh, one more great building is the Walt Disney Concert Hall, really beautiful architecture!
High Rooftop Lounge at Hotel Erwin
★★★★★
We ended our vacation with a drink in the rooftop bar. There was a lovely atmosphere and the view was beautiful.
